Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,18,740 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,09,618 were male, 1,09,115 female and 7 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,05,338 registered voters, of which 1,09,618 were male, 1,01,792 female and 21 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,13,176 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,06,559 were male, 1,06,612 female and 5 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,84,931 which included 90,375 male, and 94,556 female.

In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, Dr G Venkata Subbaiah of YSRCP won in this constituency beating Dr Obulapuram Raja Sekhar of TDP by a margin of 44,734 votes which was 28.53% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Thiriveedi Jayaramulu of YSRCP was the winner in this seat beating N D Vijaya Jyothi of TDP by a margin of 10,079 votes which was 6.47% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Kamalamma P M of INC won this seat defeating Chennaiah Lakkineni of TDP by a margin of 36,594 votes which was 27.08% of the total votes polled for the seat.
