Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,13,976 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,05,887 were male, 1,08,085 female and 4 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,01,260 registered voters, of which 1,05,887 were male, 1,01,309 female and 8 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 1,87,185 registered voters in this constituency, of which 93,122 were male, 94,053 female and 10 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,64,831 which included 81,110 male, and 83,721 female.

In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, Jakkampudi Raja of YSRCP won in this constituency beating Pendurthi Venkatesh of TDP by a margin of 31,772 votes which was 17.97% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Pendurthi Venkatesh of TDP was the winner in this seat beating Jakkampudi Vijaya Lakshmi of YSRCP by a margin of 8,887 votes which was 5.53% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Pendurthi Venkatesh of TDP won this seat defeating Chitturi Ravindra of INC by a margin of 6,936 votes which was 4.87% of the total votes polled for the seat.
