In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,54,432 registered voters, of which 1,32,630 were male, 1,29,660 female and 12 of the third gender. In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, Gorantla Butchaiah Choudary of TDP won in this constituency beating Akula Veerraju of YSRCP by a margin of 10,404 votes which was 5.51% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary of TDP was the winner in this seat beating Akula Veerraju of YSRCP by a margin of 18,058 votes which was 10.77% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Chandana Ramesh of TDP won this seat defeating Ravanam Swami Naidu of PRAP by a margin of 1,547 votes which was 1.12% of the total votes polled for the seat.
