Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,27,557 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,13,310 were male, 1,14,240 female and 7 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,19,685 registered voters, of which 1,13,310 were male, 1,09,052 female and 6 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 1,95,652 registered voters in this constituency, of which 98,937 were male, 96,700 female and 15 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,77,742 which included 88,415 male, and 89,327 female.

In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, Kv Usha Sricharan of YSRCP won in this constituency beating Umamaheswara Naidu Madineni of TDP by a margin of 19,896 votes which was 10.43% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Vunnam Hanumantharaya Chowdary of TDP was the winner in this seat beating Boya Thippe Swamy of YSRCP by a margin of 22,319 votes which was 13.28% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Neelakantapuram Raghuveera Reddy of INC won this seat defeating Vunnam Hanumantharaya Chowdary of TDP by a margin of 4,388 votes which was 3% of the total votes polled for the seat.
